Pre-dental student at Oklahoma State University (OSU), Mitchell Vo wanted to do something special for his hometown of Atoka.
“I had the oppurtunity to be home due to the pandemic… I volunteer at the Atoka Manor, and being a pre-dental student I saw a need and wanted to help.” Vo stated.
Starting in early May, he began gathering dental supplies to donate to the residents of the Atoka Manor.
In total, he was able to collect: 1,824 denture cleaning tablets, 82 toothbrushes, 50 containers of floss, 54 tubes of toothpaste, and 50 denture brushes.
Vo, who graduated from Atoka High School in 2016, will graduate from OSU in the fall with his Bachelor’s of Science. He is the son of Diane Duyen Nguyen.
While currently living in Norman, he would love to open a practice in southeastern Oklahoma.
“I’ll start applying for dental school in July, and while I wait I plan to shadow a dentist during the spring semester.”
His words of motivation for his generation are, “do what you can today so that you don’t have to do it tomorrow.”
The supplies were given to the residents on Thursday, May 28, 2020.
