Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Brown Alford, age 79 years, 5 months and 14 days, a longtime Caney resident, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, in Atoka, with Claudie Alford officiating.
Interment will be with Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service, in Durant.
Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Alford passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020, in Durant.
He was born on Wednesday, December 18, 1940, to Arnold Allen and Lillie Francis (Tigert) Alford, at Caney.
Alford graduated from Caney High School.
He lived in Valley Center, Kansas from 1960 – 1995.
He married Lou Ella (Phillips) on Saturday, September 24, 1960, at Mt. Pleasant View, in Tushka. They celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Alford was a rancher and was Vice President of sales for B.J. Alberts Co., Wichita, Kansas, selling miscellaneous parts to the aircraft and oil and gas industries.
He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, a member of the Gideons, also of the Cattleman’s Association, served on the Valley Center School Board for 8 years, some of those were served as President of the school board. Alford was also an active Deacon of Calvary Baptist Church, in Valley Center, Kansas. He enjoyed raising cattle, being outdoors, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren and watching basketball.
Survivors include his wife, Lou Ella Alford of the home, in Caney; daughters, Sharon Coleman and husband, Dan, of Valley Center, Kansas; Ann Banks and husband, Jim, of Wichita, Kansas; Paula Boese and husband, Larry, of Wichita, Kansas; son, Gary Alford and wife, Darla Stephenson, of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Matthew Coleman and wife, Crystal; Danielle Vogt and husband, Johnny; Thayne Coleman and Elayna Coleman; Tera Price and husband, Alex; Ashley Zoglman and husband, Ryan; Huldon Tharp; Bailey Banks and Ryan Hubbard; Abby Banks; Sammy Crawford and Chase; Emmie Boese; great-grandchildren, Tylee and Broxton Coleman; Ella, Evan, Isaac, Clara, Alice and Elias Vogt; Journey, Jourdan and Josclyn Price; Rylan and Colt Zoglman; Teagan and Rylee Hubbard; brothers, Jack Alford and wife, Janice, of Fort Worth, Texas; Carl Alford and wife, Vickie, of Thackerville; sister, Mary Gay and husband, Jim, of Piedmont; sisters-in-law, Trecia Alford, Gayla Alford and Vicky Alford, all of Caney; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Arnold and Lillie Alford; brothers, Travis, Bud, Neal, Don and Wallace Alford; and a sister, Sammy Alford.
Pallbearers are Jim Banks, Larry Boese, Dan Coleman, Matthew Coleman, Thayne Coleman and Greg Alford.
Family night will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
