Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association Chairman Matthew L. Morgan responds to legislative leaders’ filing with the Oklahoma supreme court in response to a recent federal court motion by Gov. Kevin Stitt posing significant risk to separation of powers.
“The OIGA appreciates Oklahoma’s state leadership demanding Governor Stitt stop attempting to act outside his authority and misconstruing the State of Oklahoma’s gaming compact process. Tribes in Oklahoma have been great partners with the State of Oklahoma since long before Governor Stitt was in office and will continue to be great partners after he is out of office.
A productive Tribal-State relationship can only be restored if all parties are principled and respectful of others and the legal process. Otherwise actions are only a waste of time and taxpayer dollars.”
