Funeral services for Wendell John Mixon, age 80 years and 11 months and 22 days, an Atoka resident, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020, at the Atoka Funeral Home Chapel, in Atoka, with the Reverend John Mixon officiating.
Interment was in Green Meadows Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services were under the direction of Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
Mixon passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at his home, in Atoka.
He was born on June 13, 1939, to John E. Mixon and Elta Lena Gillham, at Maud.
Mixon was a member of the Army National Guard.
He married Linda C. (Bills) Mixon, on May 23, 1964, at Atoka.
Mixon was a lineman – splicer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atoka and President of the Atoka County Little League.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Mixon of the home, in Atoka; sons, Derrick Mixon and wife, Jan, of Atoka; J.D. Mixon and fiance, Malori Riddle, of Boswell; daughters, Cheryl Eaves and husband, Jason, of Olney; Becky Graham and husband, Chad, of Savanna; Margie Rector and husband, Clint, of Lane; grandchildren, Jerad Mixon and wife, Sara, of Powell, Wyoming; Teran Wood and husband, Taylor, of Conroe, Texas; Shelby Phillips and husband, Britt, of Centerpoint; Jade Mixon and Trent Mixon, both of Atoka; Tristan Riddle, Taylor Riddle and Jakus Riddle, all of Boswell; Falyn Eaves and Tristan Eaves, both of Olney; Cierra Gomez and husband, Kidd, of Oklahoma City; Chailee Graham, Catyn Graham and Camryn Graham, all of Savanna; Alec Rector, Elena Rector and Meg Rector, all of Lane; great-grandchildren, Kadeja Mixon of California; Wyatt Mixon of Boise, Idaho; Montana Mixon and Gentry Mixon, both of Powell, Wyoming; Billie Rector and Blair Phillips, both of Centerpoint; Everett Wood of Conroe, Texas; Paizlee Gomez of Oklahoma City; brother, Bill Mixon and wife, Ruby, of Atoka; sister, Doris Autrey of Lane; also several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Elta Lena Gillham; father, John E. Mixon; grandson, Coll Michael Rector; brothers, Jim Mixon, Joe Mixon and Lindsey Mixon; sisters, Lorene Connelly and Margie Anderson.
Pallbearers were Trent Mixon, Jerad Mixon, Alec Rector, Kidd Gomez, Jason Stover and Clint Rector.
Honorary pallbearers were Jason Eaves, Chad Graham, Royce Blaker, Gary Hensley, David Kellogg, William Stover, Jimmy Murphy, Charley Stover, Brian Mixon, Tristan Eaves, Wayne Mixon and Jerriel Betts.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 7, 2020, at Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
