This week we were blessed as Bro Phil Tallman provided the special music before our service. This was our third Sunday to be back in the sanctuary and everything seems to be going well.
Everyone seems to abide by the social distancing and safety precautions during the service but still enjoy visiting after the service.
At the present time we are still not having Sunday School or Sunday or Wednesday evening services. However we are reviewing all precautions and before long will hold one of our evening services.
We want to remind everyone that this Sunday we will be having a very special offering. This Sunday our offering will be for Kiamichi Baptist Assembly which had to cancel the entire summer schedule of camps due to the COVID-19 situation.
Wendy and Robby Isom reported having a nice time on a recent vacation. They enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Aaron and Reesa Tatum and their children Avery and Fisher enjoyed vacationing at the lake for a few days.
We are real proud of Reesa. She has recently completed her Dental Assistant training and is presently a Dental Assistant at the Choctaw Nation Dental Clinic in McAlester.
Reesa completed part of her training at Westside Dentistry in Durant.
My mother and I enjoyed visiting my sister again this past week in Marietta. It’s been really nice for me to get to visit with my sister so often. It’s always hard during the school year to get away and especially leave the cattle. Since COVID-19 I’ve had more time off this summer than I usually do so we’ve been able to visit each other once a week.
Happy Birthday wishes go out to Dorothy Muncy who celebrated a birthday this past week.
Many of our readers near Stringtown probably saw the big blaze of billowing smoke on June 6th as fire departments from all over were called out to what at first appeared to be the mountains on fire. After their arrival and several hours of fighting smoke and flames they realized it was just the flames from the many candles on Tony Warren’s birthday cake. It appeared the fire extinguishers weren’t enough for all the flames so several area fire departments were called out for safety.
In preparation for Tony’s birthday DOT had even been preparing a fire guard just in case the flames got out of hand. The Fire Guard was located about five miles east of Stringtown on Highway 43, and for some strange reason people keep referring to it as the “Wall”.
Congratulations also go out to Cara Embry who will be getting married in October.
We were glad to have Gladys Kelly back at church Sunday. Gladys has been taking care of her sister Corine and her husband who have had medical issues. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
We’ve also missed having Liz Page at our services. Liz has been dealing with medical issues and due to health reasons hasn’t been able to attend services. She is really missed.
