Funeral services for Merlin Lyda, age 67 years, 11 months and 10 days, an Ada resident, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Atoka Funeral Home Chapel, in Atoka, with Larry Hawkins officiating.
Interment will be in High Hill Cemetery, at Tushka.
Services are under the direction of Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
Lyda passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020, at the Chickasaw Retreat and Conference Center.
He was born on July 9, 1952, to John Dee and Mary Jean (Fulsom) Lyda, at Talihina.
Lyda was a county worker and worked for Coal County District #2.
He was a member of the Blue Baptist Church, of Connerville.
Survivors include his daughters, Suzanne Lyda of Konawa; Letha Lyda and fiance, Anthony Whitfield, of Kansas City, Missouri; Jonna Hopper and husband, Jim, of Hominy; grandchildren, Mary McEntire of Kansas City, Missouri; Lillyan Hopper, Lela Hopper and Luke Hopper, all of Hominy; sister, Dean Vitosh of Garland, Texas; brother, Larry Hawkins and wife, Joanna, of Stonewall; also several very special nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Mary Jean (Fulsom) Lyda; father, John Dee Lyda; brothers, Lawfton Lyda, Recy Don Lyda, Irving John Lyda and Kilby Lyda.
Honorary pallbearers are Corey James Vitosh, David Dean Vitosh, Houston Dean Bartell, Luke Timmis Hopper and Nino Jalen Vitosh.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
