Graveside services for Helen M. (Youngblood) Newberry, age 95 years, 4 months and 13 days, a Wardville resident, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2020, at Wardville Cemetery, in Wardville, with her family officiating.
Interment was in Wardville Cemetery, at Wardville.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Coalgate.
Newberry passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at her home, in Wardville.
She was born on February 12, 1925, to James Lewis and Inez (Baxter) Youngblood, at Chockie.
Newberry attended and graduated from Limestone Gap High School, in 1941, as the Valedictorian of her class.
After graduation Helen married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, JV Newberry.
She worked in the California shipyards as a tack welder during WWII, at Bluebell in Coalgate, and at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester. Her most loved jobs were being a homemaker, mother and granny.
Newberry was a member of the Wardville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her eight grandchildren, Jimmy and Deanna Newberry of Mounds; Richard and Laura Newberry of Mandeville, Louisiana; Steven and Terry Newberry of Mounds; Jeff and Sindy Newberry of Atoka; Mandy and Kenny Maxwell of Bohannon; Kevin Newberry of Kiowa; Kristie and Wade Daniel of Kiowa; Kim and Richard Armstrong of McAlester; daughter-in-law, Lisa Newberry of Wardville; greatgrandchildren, Lacey, Audra, Sydney, Natalie, Nathan, Lindsay, Cody, Brandon, Dusty, Kylie, Easton, Lily, Whitney, Jordan, Maggie, Kenton and Ethan; sixteen great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Youngblood and Marie of California; one step-sister, Doris Ann Shelby of Comanche; special caregivers, Sarah, Linda, Nana, Nonna, Mary and Bessie.
Preceding her in death were her parents, James Lewis & Inez (Baxter) Youngblood; husband, JV Newberry; three sons, James Lacey, Jerry Wayne and William Neal; mother and father-in-law, George Elton and Vivian Newberry; brother, Billy Ray Youngblood; daughter-in-law, Barbara Newberry; great-great-grandson, J. O. Broadhead.
Pallbearers were her great-grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons.
A viewing was held from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 28, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Coalgate.
