Wednesday, June 10, 2020, a hit and run accident sent two people to the hospital.
A black 2018 Audi driven by 17 year old Spence Haney, of Atoka, was travelling on the inside lane north on Highway 69.
A semi had stopped in the inside lane to allow a silver Cadillac to exit from the Choctaw Travel Plaza parking lot. As the Cadillac pulled out it hit Haney’s vehicle on the passenger side.
The force of the hit spun Haney’s Audi into the turning lane to strike a 2004 Chevrolet 1500 pickup driven by Walter Moore, 50, of Atoka.
The Cadillac continued through traffic, entering Cedar Street, and left the scene of the accident.
Haney and his passenger, Jon Haney, 15, were transported by personal vehicle to the Atoka County Medical Center. Haney had injuries to his head while his passenger was checked for injuries to the arm.
Atoka Police Officer Derik Franklin investigated.
