Emergency crews responded to a two vehicle accident that happened on Monday, June 15, 2020.
A silver 2014 Ford Edge driven by Mona Simpson, 81, from Caney was in the left turn lane at the intersection of Highway 69 and Red Bud Lane.
As the light changed for southbound traffic to go, Simpson’s light began blinking yellow. Instead of yielding to oncoming traffic, Simpson attempted to turn left onto Red Bud Lane in front of a Kenworth Semi driven by Brian Ewan, 51, of Barnegat, New Jersey.
The Kenworth semi struck Simpson’s vehicle on the passenger side, pushing the vehicle into the ditch.
Witnesses stated Ewan tried to stop, but was unable to do so in time as Simpson turned in front of him.
Simpson’s vehicle was towed by Highway 69 wrecker service. Ewan was able to drive from the scene. No injuries were reported.
