On Saturday, June 20, 2020, Atoka Police Officer Chase Franklin was patrolling the area near the Safe Storage Buildings located on South Clarice Avenue.
Officer Franklin pulled next to a white Ford Explorer where three persons, identified as Steven Ray Cole, 35, of Atoka, Nicole Teague, and Joseph Harbour, were taking tools and bags out of a storage unit.
Cole claimed ownership of the storage unit. He stated they were getting tools to fix Teague’s flat tires.
Officer Franklin asked Cole if there was anything illegal in the storage unit. “Nothing at all,” Cole stated, agreeing to let the officer search the unit.
During the search, a black and grey bag with two cigar boxes inside was located. Inside the boxes were multiple glass pipes with a burnt residue, a homemade bong, a piece of glass containing a white residue, two unused pipes, push rods, and a soft glasses case with two glass pipes inside that had a burnt residue.
In a Vaultz clipboard were multiple clear plastic baggies, tweezers, a spoon with burn marks, and a blue plastic case containing a white residue that field tested positive for methamphetamines. A piece of glass and a mirror with a white residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine was also located in the storage unit.
Cole was transported to the Atoka County Jail. He is charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance (misdemeanor), and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
