After closing its 2019 – 2020 season with its sixth pre-recorded live stream, Tulsa Ballet is sharing another free performance on its YouTube channel.
The first live stream of Tulsa Ballet’s virtual programming of the summer will be the 2013 recording of Rite of Spring by Adam Hougland, streaming on Friday, July 10th at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 11th at 12:00 p.m.
Originally created by Vaslav Nijinsky for the Ballet Russe, Rite of Spring has controversial history from its 1913 premiere, citing riots for it’s experimental score by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky and unsettling choreography and narrative.
Hougland’s version of Rite of Spring “…remains just as powerful as ever.” wrote James Watts.
