McLeod Files Charges Against Inmates

Charges were filed Friday, July 10, 2020, against seven inmates of the McLeod Correctional Center for illegal contraband.
Zachary Scott Wendt, 35, is charged with two counts of possession of contraband by an inmate (felony).
Friday, June 17, 2020, Wendt was found to have a touchscreen smart phone and charger hidden in a laundry bag in his cell after an inmate tried to take the bag. Correctional Officers also located three grams of marijuana, and five tablets of Xanax.
Andrew Levi Coffey, 32, was charged with two counts of possession of contraband by an inmate (felony).
June 17th, Coffey attempted to take a laundry bag from Wendt’s cell that had a phone and charger inside. Located in Coffey’s cell was one pound 4.9 ounces of tobacco, and a glass pipe with a white crystal residue that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Miguel Angel Yanez, 31, was charged with possession of contraband by an inmate (felony).
Sunday, June 21, 2020, Yanez was instructed to remove his shoes and socks during a pat down search. He took off his right shoe, but only turned his sock half way inside out.
A small piece of folded paper fell out of the sock. Inside the paper was a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana.
Nathan Lawrence Treat, 23, is charged with possession of contraband by an inmate (felony).
On June 17th, a mirror was located under Treat’s bunk that had lines of a white crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Christopher Cosar, 35, was charged with possession of contraband by an inmate (felony).
While Cosar was being searched two pieces of paper were found by Correctional Officer Justin Logue on Friday, February 21, 2020. Inside the paper was a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana.
Kelly Roger Nelson, 47, was charged with possession of contraband by an inmate (felony).
On Friday, March 27, 2020, Correctional Officer Larry Winn was doing a security check when he observed Nelson sitting on the top bunk rolling a green leafy substance.
Winn asked Nelson what he was doing. Nelson confessed to rolling a marijuana joint.
Jason Alan Hooks, 39, was charged with possession of contraband by an inmate (felony).
While conducting a pat down search on Thursday, May 21, 2020, Officer Waylon Keel located the tip of a clear glove containing a green leafy substance in Hooks’ right sock.
All contraband was seized from the inmates and they were taken to the Segregated Housing Unit.
