Residents of the Atoka Manor received a very special gift on Thursday, July 30, 2020.
When eleven year old Leland White’s mother, Crystal James, explained to him the changes that were happening due to COVID he became concerned for the people living in the nursing facilities who were unable to receive visitors.
Leland made the decision to donate a small piece of happiness by going through his stuffed animal toys.
He was able to collect more than 50 plush animals with the help of locals and his own collection.
Toting bags of the toys in his red wagon and wearing a mask, Leland dropped off the toys at the Atoka Manor for the residents on Thursday, July 30, 2020.
Leland is the son of Crystal White of Atoka. He has one brother, Corbin White, who will be in the eighth grade; and one sister, Rhiannon James, who is a sophomore at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. Leland will be attending fifth grade this year at Atoka Public Schools.
He said that it makes him feel good to make other people happy.
