Around midnight on Sunday, August 2, 2020, Atoka Police Officer Jedediah Griffith arrived at the Cedar Ridge Apartments for a report of a suspect physically assaulting individuals.
Officer Griffith spoke to the victim who explained they were trying to get around the suspect, Raymond Hopkins, 43, of Atoka, when he kicked their feet out from under them.
Hopkins caused the victim to fall, injuring their right elbow and knee as they fell through the open apartment door.
A witness helped the victim up, but left the area to avoid conflict with Hopkins.
The victim, afraid Hopkins would harm them in front of the minor children present, alerted SAFELINE for assistance.
Hopkins was located in the parking lot of the apartment complex. He was sweating profusely and unable to control his body movements.
When approached, Hopkins appeared agitated and stating people were in debt because of the casino.
Hopkins was placed under arrest for domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor. He was transported to the Atoka County Jail for booking.
He is charged with domestic abuse – assault and battery (misdemeanor).
