While some states have elected to use mail in ballots for all voters, Oklahoma has decided to continue the voting process in person.
Absentee ballot applications for the general election must be requested before one will be mailed out.
The deadline for absentee applications was Tuesday, August 18, 2020 for the runoff election on August 25, 2020.
Atoka County will continue to have polling places available for voters to visit on run-off day or for early voting.
County Election Board Secretary Racheal Feuerhelm stated polling places will be open with social distancing in place.
The early voting will kickoff on Thursday, August 20 and Friday, August 21, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. before all elections.
Early voting is available from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, before the election.
Republican Runoff
The candidates for County Comissioner District Two are:
• Spikes Eaves
• Tommy Henagar
This Republican runoff applies to the residents in District Two only. This is not a county wide race.
There will be a runoff for District Five of the State Senate the candidates are:
• Justin Jackson
• George H Burns
