Saturday, August 15, 2020, Wards Chapel Fire Department, Atoka EMS, Atoka County Sheriff Department, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper John Ivey responded to a single vehicle accident that claimed the life of a Caney resident.
Just before 2:00 a.m. Caney residents Preston, 34, and Janette, 49, Noland were on their way home from a date night, westbound on State Highway Seven.
The 2017 Chevrolet Traverse went off the roadway to the left, striking a culvert and a tree before rolling to a stop.
The driver, Preston Noland, was ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Janette Noland was taken by ambulance to the Atoka County Medical Center. She was then flown by Air E-Vac to Texoma Medical Center in Sherman, Texas in stable condition.
The accident report states there was an odor of alcohol on the driver.
Janette told family members a feral hog ran across the road, causing Preston to swerve.
