Our hearts were saddened this week as longtime area resident, Stringtown Alumni and friend, Jerry Lansdale passed away.
My sister, Kenni Lane, graduated with Jerry from Stringtown High School in 1974 and my mother, Ruthie Anderson, taught Jerry in the 6th grade. Both of them only have good thoughts and fond memories of Jerry.
We want to remind everyone that we have started back having our Sunday evening services. Sunday evening services start at 6:00 P.M.
We have also started back our Wednesday evening services. Those services begin at 7:00 P.M. We are planning to start Sunday School services on September 13th.
I had a nice visit this weekend with one of my neighbors, Jace Chancellor. His mother is one of my Kindergarten teachers at Talihina and his son attends school in Talihina. He had moved to the Daisy community some time ago but we recently just realized we lived near each other.
We want to remind anyone that is 55 or older and has a Choctaw Nation Membership that the COVID-19 Elder Food Security Program is taking applications and as of this week moved the age back to 55 instead of 65 to qualify for assistance.
You must submit a one-time application. The program provides $200 a month grocery allowance through December 2020. Contact the Choctaw Nation at 1-800-522-6170, COVID-19 Elder Care Program for an application or the Choctaw Nation Field Office in Atoka. If you are 55, breathing and have a membership card you will qualify for this program.
Robby and Wendy Isom made a trip out to western Oklahoma this past weekend to help daughter Kesa celebrate her birthday. I think Robby and Wendy like having any occasion to visit their grandchildren. They all had a good time and enjoyed visiting.
I really appreciate Phillip Judkins and his crew who recently built a new fence for me. The fence was ½ mile long and took them just over 1 day. I was really surprised they completed it so fast. They used a gas post driller that zips the post in the ground so they can move quickly.
I worked with Phillip in Talihina until he retired a couple of years ago and started his own fence building business.
It’s always hard to find people that hire out to build fence. He and his crew did an excellent job.
We were glad to have Eilene Garcia in church with us Sunday. Please keep Eilene in your thoughts and prayers as she deals with medical issues.
Please keep Bro Bob Muncy in your thoughts and prayers as he deals with medical issues.
