Monday afternoon, August 24th, Atoka Police Officer Chase Franklin was dispatched to the intersection of East A Street and North Ohio due to a naked male suspect directing traffic.
When the officer arrived on scene the suspect, Kevin D. Tippens, 50, of Atoka, was now wearing shorts and speaking to witnesses next to a stop sign.
Officer Franklin made contact with Tippens who stated, “I’m talking to God give me five minutes.”
Tippens was believed to be on an intoxicant. He was asked to sit, but tried to walk away. Officer Franklin asked him to sit once more and Tippens complied stating, “I’m gonna be alright.”
Witnesses reported seeing Tippens standing and running down the street or through the intersection, naked.
They tried talking to Tippens. He kept repeating, “I’m talking to God,” and “I’m going to jail give me five minutes, trust God.”
Officer Franklin asked Tippens if he was on any kind of intoxicant. Tippens told the officer he had used methamphetamine and marijuana earlier.
Tippens was placed under arrest for indecent exposure and public intoxication.
