Atoka Police Officer Joe Doshier was contacted by a Coalgate Police Officer, Nathan Price, regarding a vehicle stolen from Coal County that was believed to be in Atoka on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
Officer Doshier patrolled East B Street where the 2013 white Dodge Ram pickup was believed to be. The vehicle was located at the residence of the vehicle owner’s brother, Tyler Powell, 24, of Atoka.
Powell advised the officer he had the keys in his pocket when Officer Doshier made contact. The officer asked to see the keys, but Powell changed his statement claiming he did not have the keys.
The vehicle was towed from the scene. Coalgate Police Officer Price stated Powell had been given permission to use the truck, but did not return the vehicle. The owner received a text message stating Powell was not bringing the vehicle back to the owner.
