Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Seth Leyba was on routine patrol Friday, September 4, 2020, when he observed a yellow Ford Escape driving southbound on State Highway Three. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
Trooper Leyba conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and made contact with the driver, Connar Dax Willis, 21, from Lane.
Willis was checked for weapons before having him take a seat inside the patrol unit. He advised the Trooper he did not have his license or proof of insurance.
Trooper Leyba was informed by the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS) that the tag on the Escape was registered to a Ford Mustang, and Willis’ license was suspended.
Willis was placed under arrest for driving while under suspension.
During an inventory of the vehicle, Trooper Leyba discovered a crystal-like substance inside a green prescription bottle, and a digital scale.
Willis was transported to the Atoka County Jail for booking. He is charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance (misdemeanor), and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
