Charges have been filed against a man accused of domestic assault.
Monday, September 28, 2020, Atoka Police Officer Cody Poe responded to a domestic in progress at the Sunset Apartments.
As the Officer knocked on the door it swung open and the victim rushed out of the apartment, crying and with blood on their lip.
Officer Poe directed the victim down the stairs and spoke to the suspect, Rodney Paul Eldridge, 50, of Atoka, who was sitting on a couch inside the home.
The victim had attempted to call 911, but was unable to due to Eldridge taking their phone. The victim stated he had tried to have intercourse with them, but they told him, “No, we are just friends.”
Eldridge allegedly placed his hand over the victim’s mouth and threw them on the floor and started kicking them.
He was taken to the Atoka County Jail for booking. Eldridge is charged with domestic abuse – assault and battery (misdemeanor), and disrupt/prevent/interrupt/emergency telephone call (misdemeanor).
