Tuesday, November 3, 2020, Atoka Police Officer Cody Poe observed a man walking on the southbound shoulder of Highway 69 near South Virginia Avenue.
The man was seen talking to himself and waving his arms around. Officer Poe made contact with the suspect, identified as Dude Anthony Thompson, 37, of Lane.
Thompson advised the officer he was on his way to WalMart for a game controller. He denied being on medication or using any narcotics.
Officer Poe noticed he had rapid speech and was unable to control his movements.
After questioning Thompson, he admitted to using “meth” a day and a half before. He was placed under arrest for public intoxication, and transported to the Atoka County Jail for booking.
Thompson requested a drug test once at the jail. The test results were positive for methamphetamine.
