On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, Caney Police Officer John Anderson was working a stationary patrol near the old Highway 69 when he observed a white 2002 Dodge Ram 3500, belonging to a subject known to not have a license, pull into their residence.
Officer Anderson made contact with the driver, identified as Benny James Willis, 36, of Caney.
The officer asked Willis if he had his license reinstated. Willis said he had not, and Dispatch confirmed he did not have a valid license.
Willis was placed under arrest for an Atoka County Sheriff Deputy to transport to the Atoka County Jail.
A camouflage Browning 7mm hunting rifle was located inside the vehicle.
Willis is charged with possession of firearm after former felony conviction (felony), and driving with license cancelled/suspended/revoked (misdemeanor).
