Funeral services for James Andrew Carey, Jr., age 94 years, one month and 19 days, an Atoka resident, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Atoka Funeral Home Chapel, in Atoka, with Brother Virgil Neal and Brother Dennis Powell officiating.
Interment was in Bethany Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services were under the direction of Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
Carey passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at his home, in Atoka.
He was born on July 6, 1926, to James Andrew and Lillie Bell (Freeman) Carey, at Atoka.
Carey served his country in the Army Air Corps.
He married Beatrice Williams, on September 27, 1947.
Carey was the owner of Atoka Appliance.
He was an Elder at the General Assembly and Church of the First Born.
Survivors include his sons, Brad Carey and wife, Rebecca, of Atoka; daughters, Linda Fisher of Dewitt, Arkansas; Leda Walters and husband, Allen, of Wapanucka; Jean Bagley of Atoka; Necie Albertson and husband, Stan, of Moore; Shirlene Howard and husband, Ronnie, of Atoka; Vanessa Ashby and husband, Tom, of Atoka; stepsons, Henry Bellew and wife, Teresa, of Montrose, Colorado; Gary Bellew of Cushing; stepdaughters, Linda McGhee and husband, Gary, of Delta, Colorado; Carlene Neely and husband, Denny, of Grand Junction, Colorado; Sonja Boedecker and husband, Melvin, of Vici; daughter-in-law, Carlotta Carey of Atoka; son-in-law, Marty Brown of Wewoka; stepson-in-law, Larry Pfister of Montrose, Colorado; sister, Joy Richardson of Crockett, Texas; 40 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James Andrew Carey, Sr. and Lillie Bell (Freeman) Carey; first wife and mother of his children, Beatrice Williams; second wife, Thelma Bellew; son, Don Carey; 3 sons-in-law, Estel Fisher, Calvin Bagley and Alva Gregory; daughter, Shelly Brown; stepdaugther, Vickie Pfister; four grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; four brothers and six sisters.
Pallbearers were Rodney Fisher, Ronnie Fisher, Chad Walters, Eric Carey, Wes Brown and Derek Howard.
Honorary pallbearers were Chantel Bagley, Kristi Carey Barnes, Sheri Walters, Shanda Albertson and Olivia Ashby.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
