Funeral services for Curtis Leon Sheffield, age 77 years, 10 months and 14 days, a lifelong Lane resident, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 7, 2020, at Lane Baptist Church, in Lane, with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating.
Interment was in Butler Cemetery, at Lane.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Sheffield passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020, at Atoka.
He was born on Wednesday, October 21, 1942, to Leonard Ervin and Florence Loretta (Butler) Sheffield, at Lane.
He graduated from Atoka High School, in 1960.
Sheffield served his country in the Oklahoma National Guard
He married Mary Elaine (Miller) on Friday, June 16, 1967, at Caney. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before his passing.
Sheffield was a rancher all his life and also worked for the State of Oklahoma Highway Department.
He was a member of Lane Baptist Church. Sheffield enjoyed riding horses, working the land, riding 4-wheelers, spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed his cattle.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elaine Sheffield of the home, in Lane; son, Steven Sheffield of Lane; grandchildren, Megan Robinson and husband, Daniel, of Stringtown; Lauryn Bird and Sara Bird, both of Sherman, Texas; Alex Sheffield of Cottonwood; Austin Sheffield and Jillian Sheffield, both of Durant; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Fink and husband, Earl, of Tulsa; Barbara Broome and husband, Gene, of Tushka; brothers, Doyle Sheffield and wife, Sharon, of Lane; Forrest Sheffield and wife, Patsy, of Tupelo, Mississippi; Jack Sheffield and wife, Lou Ann, of Lane; Larry Sheffield and wife, Gloria, of Lane; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Leonard Ervin and Florence Loretta (Butler) Sheffield; daughter, Karen Sheffield; siblings, Lennis Frederick, Leonard Sheffield, Jr., Raymond Sheffield and Clyde Sheffield.
Pallbearers were Colt Broome, Doug Sheffield, Tracy Coyle, Alan Coyle, Travis Miller, Josh McDonald, Colby McDonald, Jamey Miller, Kevin Miller, Clif Miller and Jason Miller.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 6, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
