Graveside services for Marty Lee Coates, age 65 years and 18 days, a longtime Tushka resident, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the Tushka Cemetery, in Tushka, with Scott Ridgeway officiating.
Interment was in the Tushka Cemetery, at Tushka.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Coates passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020, in Sherman, Texas.
He was born on Thursday, September 8, 1955, to Vernon Lee and Barbara Jean (Stanley) Coates, at Compton, California.
Coates was the District Manager for Atoka Rural Water District 2, before his retirement.
He married Deborah (Griffin) on Friday, March 28, 1975, at Tushka. They celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Coates liked visiting with his grandchildren and watching them play sports. He also enjoyed spending time with family and all his children.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Coates of the home, in Tushka; mother, Barbara Jean (Stanley) Coates of Tushka; sons, Zac Coates and wife, Ashley, of Tushka; Matt Coates and wife, Tiffany, of Tushka; brother, Jim Coates and Pam Bensley of Tushka; grandchildren, Blaine, Ketch, Raynee, Kollin and Josie.
Preceding him in death were his father, Vernon Lee Coates; father-in-law, Raymond Joe Griffin; and mother-in-law, June Griffin.
Pallbearers were Eddie Hill, Dale Tomlinson, Tracey Griffin, Trenton Griffin, Ronnie Hill, Dale Workman, Warren Combest and Ronnie Tomlinson.
Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, September 28, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
