This week our community was saddened as we lost another long time resident, Burley Snow. Burley was known as one of the Snow Boys. The Snow Boys, Burley, Thurman and James have been around forever and were just part of the Daisy scenery. They were always known as hard working boys that never bothered anybody. Burley had spent the last few years in the nursing home after his brothers had passed away. For those of us who have always lived in the Daisy community know that Burley took a little bit of Daisy with him when he passed away.
Johnny Burleson enjoyed visiting over the weekend with his former Army buddy, Melvin Lanning and his wife, Dorothy. They were visiting from Mountain View, Arkansas.
Jo-Ann Gabbart enjoyed a big Thanksgiving celebration this week as most of her family came to visit.
Bill’s family all made it to their Granny Gabbart’s for a nice Thanksgiving meal. Those attending were Bill and wife, Brenda and their children, Amanda and husband, Nathan and their children, Eli and Kaydon Peterson; Matt and wife, Brett, along with their children, Harper and Bear also made the trip to Daisy; along with Teddy and wife, Amy, and youngest daughter, Addison. Everyone enjoyed a day of visiting and a really good meal.
Wendy and Robby Isom had a big group visiting over the holidays. Wendy’s sisters, Donna and Misty, have really taken care of Wendy during her recovery from surgery. They all came with their families and spent the week visiting and cooking, while the men hunted.
Edna Burleson had all her family but one grandchild in for the Thanksgiving holiday. Daughter, Sheri and husband, David Wolfe came from Wylie; along with son, Grant, girlfriend, Nikki and his children, Presleigh, Paislee and Payton.
Son, Tony and wife, Delpha drove down from Purcell along with their daughter, Desiree, her husband, Jerry and their children, Payton and Brody.
The group also enjoyed having Edna’s favorite niece, Dianne Burleson Isom and husband, Eddie, join them for the big meal.
Everyone all enjoyed being together, visiting and good food.
We also enjoyed having our family together for Thanksgiving. My nephew, Micah, made his famous sweet potato pie which he has almost perfected. We enjoyed having Micah and his wife, Hannah, along with my sister, Kenni and her husband, Rick, my mom and me.
Brother Phil and Sharon Tallman and daughter, Amy also enjoyed having their family visit for the Thanksgiving holidays.
I think last week I was one of many that decided to put my Christmas tree up in hopes of making things not seem so bleak with the outbreak of COVID.
I think last year I cut it close to Christmas before I eventually got around to putting it up but I decided against that this year.
I put my Christmas tree up on Thanksgiving Day and I enjoy sitting in the evenings and just looking at the lights. It reminds me to sometime just make the time to sit down and slow down.
