Funeral services for Sarah “Ann” Mitchell, 85 years of age, a former Atoka resident, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2020, at the Chisholm Heights Baptist Church, in Mustang.
Interment was in the Mustang Cemetery, at Mustang.
Services were under the direction of McNeil’s Funeral Service, in Mustang.
Mitchell passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
She was born on May 18, 1935, to Charles and LoEdith Miller, at Farris.
At the age of seventeen, Mitchell graduated from Atoka High School and attended college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in elementary education.
After graduating college, she moved to Oklahoma City and began her career with Oklahoma Public Schools and teaching for over 37 years. Mitchell retired with the Mustang Public School District.
She served her Lord, in faith, as greeter periodically, with the Chisholm Heights Baptist Church, in Mustang. Her loving and sweet spirit, along with the gift of talking, made her a perfect fit for this role.
Being a grandmother to Kolton, Kylee and Kyler, held a “special place” in her heart and she loved them dearly.
Survivors include her two children, Kelly Ray and William “Kent” and wife, Kerri; grandchildren, Kolton Ray, Kylee Grace and Kyler Dale; brother, Jess William Miller; along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles and LoEdith Miller; husband of 62 years, Ervin Mitchell; and daughter, Shelly Ann.
