Graveside services for Betty Jane Jackson, age 92 years, 11 months and 3 days, an Atoka resident, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2020, at Green Meadows Cemetery, in Atoka, with Cecil Mackey officiating.
Interment was in Green Meadows Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Jackson left this world in the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.
She was born on October 27, 1927, to Frank and Vida Pearl (Black) Stewart.
Jackson was a housewife and mother.
She was saved at a young age and served the Lord in Baptist churches from Vernon, Texas, Phillips, Texas, Borgor, Texas, and Atoka at Atoka First Baptist Church then Southside Baptist Church.
In her younger years, Jackson taught Sunday School, Children’s Church, coordinated the nursery and played the piano. She witnessed for Jesus to everyone she met. Jackson was instrumental in getting several neighbors in church and saved.
She moved to Atoka, in 1997, to be close to her family. Jackson loved singing in the choir at Southside Baptist Church and she loved her church family. She loved all animals, especially her dog, Max and her cat of 18 years, Sweetie Pie. Jackson was very generous, and helped a lot of people and organizations.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Howard of Atoka; grandsons, Richard Blankenship and wife, Wendy, of Amarillo, Texas; John Thacker of Atoka; Jimmy Thacker and wife, Caron, of Stringtown; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Frank E. Stewart and wife, Janelle, of Alamogordo, New Mexico; sister-in-law, Linda Stewart of Vernon, Texas; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Vida Pearl (Black) Stewart; husband, J.B. Jackson; daughter, Barbara Blankenship; brother, Charles Stewart; and a son-in-law, Richard Howard.
Pallbearers were deacons with Southside Baptist Church.
Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
