Services for George “Bob” Robert Smith, age 75 years, a longtime Stringtown resident, will be set at a later time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Smith passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Stringtown.
He was born on Monday, February 19, 1945, to Alwood Samuel and Anne Bell (Ballinger) Smith, at Ypslanti, Michigan.
Smith attended Earl Warren Elementary School, in Sacramento, California and Elk Grove High School in Elk Grove, California.
He married Kathy Marie (Backman) on Friday, December 7, 1973, at Carson City, Nevada.
Smith proudly served as Mayor of Stringtown and was a truck driver for many years.
He was a member of the Old Paths Baptist Church, Legacy Group in Stringtown, Pushmataha Sportsman Club, and a former member of McGee Creek Bass Club. Smith enjoyed bass fishing, hunting, especially with his grandson Dyllan, his buddy. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, Facebook, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Marie Smith of the home, in Atoka; daughters, Ruth Ann Smith Marlow and husband, Onie, of Stringtown; Landa Jauregui and husband, Jose, of Utah; son, Brian Mullenix and wife, Carrisa, of Ponca City; granddaughters, Mercedes Marlow and Lexie Marlow, both of Stringtown; Trinity Mounce of Utah; Amber Eubank and husband, Alex, of Ponca City; Mariah Rogers of Ponca City; great-granddaughter, Amethyst of Utah; grandsons, Dyllon Marlow and Harley Marlow, both of Stringtown; Noah Mounce of Utah; Brian Schaefer, Robert Mullenix and Alexander Mullenix, all of Ponca City; great-grandson, Easton Eubank of Ponca City; brothers-in-law, Aron Backman and wife, Nancy, of Temple, Texas; Billy Backman and wife, Tammy, of Harrah; Dennis Backman and Daniel Backman, both of Sacramento, California; Rickie Backman and wife, Lisa, of Pinehurst, Idaho; sisters-in-law, Suzzanna Gearhart of Sacramento, California; Debbie Smith of Lewisville, Idaho; Sherry Deems and husband, Donald, of Atoka; Judy Eagan and husband, Jim, of North Carolina; Ellen Smith of Tennessee; Janice Fredrickson and Karen Fredrickson, both of Reno, Nevada; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Alwood and Anne Bell (Ballinger) (Smith) Smith; brothers, Roger Smith and Kenneth Smith; brothers-in-law, Jerry Backman and Marvin Fredrickson; sister-in-law, Patty Fredrickson; two special friends since grade school, Albert Turner, Jr. and Melvin Gearhart.
