Graveside services for Rhoda Anderson age 87 years, 11 months and 11 days, a Caney resident, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the Miller Family Cemetery, located in rural Caney, with Pastor Wayne Bailey officiating.
Interment was in the Miller Family Cemetery, located at 610 Small Creek Lane, in rural Caney.
Services were under the direction of Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
Anderson passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020, in Durant.
She was born on October 31, 1932, to Sherman Thomas and Eliza Doshie (Wilson) Miller, at Caney.
Anderson worked as a Choctaw Language Teacher, in McAlester.
She married the Reverend Thomas Anderson, on December 5, 1952, at Lajunta, Colorado. He preceded her in death, February 26, 2014.
Survivors include her two sons, J. Wayne Anderson and wife, Martha, of Marlow and Robert Douglas Anderson of Skiatook; grandchildren, Mandy Lawson and husband, Hank, of Caney; Joshua Anderson of Tulsa; Miko Wildcat of Sapulpa; Mikala Hill and husband, Jayce, of Sapulpa; great-grandchildren, Shane Tisdale of Caney; Callie Jo Armstrong of Caney; Lilly Anderson and Tana Anderson, both of Tulsa; sister, Linda Addis of Durant; brother, Sherman Bo Miller of Caney; also several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Sherman and Eliza (Wilson) Miller; husband, the Reverend Thomas Anderson; and her siblings, Mary (Chol) Marjorie Miller, Imagene Swimmer, Nathaniel JoeDean Miller and Colbert Chief Miller.
Pallbearers were Shane Tisdale, Miko Wildcat, Joshua Anderson, Hank Lawson, Eleasah Horton and Isaiah Addis.
Honorary pallbearers were Boyd Miller, Richard Miller, Alex Swimmer and Dakota Miller.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
