Funeral services for Artie B. (Henderson) Powell, age 77 years, 2 months and 13 days, an Atoka resident, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Atoka Funeral Home Chapel, in Atoka, with Dennis Powell, Randy Hyatt and Jered Hyatt officiating.
Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services are under the direction of Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
Powell passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at her home in Atoka, with her children by her side.
She was born on September 8, 1943, to Julius G. and Lillie Bell (Cooksey) Henderson, in Atoka County.
Powell attended grade school at Bentley and graduated from Atoka High School.
She married the love of her life, James Powell, on December 26, 1960, at Atoka. They had 48 wonderful years together, before his passing on September 21, 2009.
Powell was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband, James at Powell’s Meat Processing.
She was a faithful member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. Powell loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many wonderful hours having fun playing games with them and always telling them something about the Lord. Powell loved cooking for her family or anyone else that came to her house, she did not want them to go away without eating. She loved working in her flower beds, mowing her yard and reading her Bible.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa (Powell) Hyatt and husband, Steve, of Atoka; son, Dennis J. Powell and wife, Reynella (Fox), of Bentley; grandchildren, Randy Hyatt and wife, Amy, of Blackjack; Jered Hyatt and wife, Jessica, of Durant; Jamie Pilkington and husband, Chase, of Edmond; Sabrina Williams and husband, Stacey, of Harmony; Tyler Powell of Bentley; Chelsie Powell and Toby Settlemire of Boggy Depot; great-grandchildren, Tanner and Kodi Hyatt of Blackjack; Jaymison Flynn and wife, Ellie, of Tushka; Chloe Flynn of Blackjack; Skyler Pilkington of Edmond; Lillie Belle Williams of Harmony; Bryce Williams and wife, Cheyenne, of Centerpoint; Kristan Williams and Joseph Derrick, of Atoka; Tate Powell of Atoka; Lizzie Powell of Boggy Depot; Bradyn, Macy, Jake and Luke Settlemire of Boggy Depot; great-great-grandchildren, Forrest, Sunny and Zane Williams, all of Centerpoint; Newt Capshaw and Legend Derrick, both of Atoka; sisters, Ruthie Keeler of Oklahoma City and Mary Jane Ables of Boggy Depot; brothers, Frank Henderson of Atoka; Ted Henderson and wife, Pat, of Atoka; and Fred Henderson and wife, Judy, of Oklahoma City; also, all of James’ family which she loved as her own family, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Julius and Lillie Henderson; husband, James Lester Powell; great-granddaughter, Morgan Flynn; brothers, Jim, Perry, John, Marvin and Jerry Henderson; and a sister, Esther Fincher; brothers-in-law, Ed Keeler, James (Bo) Fincher and Richard Ables; sisters-in-law, Faye Henderson, Mary (Baugh) Henderson, Marlene Henderson, Mary (Morris) Henderson and Freda Henderson.
Pallbearers are Steve Hyatt, Randy Hyatt, Jered Hyatt, Tyler Powell, Tate Powell, Tanner Hyatt, Chase Pilkington, Stacey Williams, Bryce Williams and Toby Settlemire.
Honorary pallbearers are Milford Powell, Robert Powell, Bill Noak, Frank Henderson, Ted Henderson, Fred Henderson, Brethren of the General Assembly and Church of the FirstBorn.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
