Funeral services for Jesse Ross Dewbery, age 83 years, 8 months and 6 days, a lifelong Bromide resident, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, in Atoka, with Jason McEntire officiating.
Interment was in Rosehill Cemetery, at Wapanucka.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Dewbery passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at his home, in Bromide.
He was born on Saturday, March 27, 1937, to Oscar Alton and Cora (Taylor) Dewbery, at Bromide.
Dewbery attended Bromide School and Prairie View School near Bromide.
He married JoAnn (Schaffer) on Saturday, October 29, 1966 at Elgin, Illinois. She preceded him in death.
Dewbery worked for the pipeline. He started as a laborer and worked his way to strawboss, where he worked in that position for 40 years, before he retired.
He was a member of Wilson Baptist Church. Dewbery enjoyed working on his old cars, car shows, his cattle, fishing, and loved being with his family and friends. He was a wheeler-dealer and always looked for a bargain. Dewbery loved his 1957 Chevy.
Survivors include his children, Mark Dewbery of Bromide; Linda Dewbery of Warner Robins, Georgia; Mary Morgan and husband, Dennis, of Wapanucka; Mike Brooks of Bromide; Donald Brooks of Durant; Bobby Brooks and wife, Linda, of Midwest City; sisters, Jannette Wilson and husband, Jerry, of Antlers; Zelda Pate and husband, Terry, of Antlers; sister-in-law, Linda Dewbery of Bromide; grandchildren, Jesse Dewbery and wife, Crystal, of Wapanucka; Joe Morgan of Broken Arrow; Audrey Rochell and husband, Colby of Lake Jackson, Texas; Jacob Morgan of Seabrook, Texas; Jennifer Keeling and husband, Shane, of Vanoss; great-granddaughter, River Dewbery of Wapanucka; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife, JoAnn Dewbery; son, Steve Dewbery; daughter, Julie Dewbery; parents, Oscar Alton and Cora (Taylor) Dewbery; brothers, Robert, Thurman, Lester, Arthur and Victor Dewbery; sisters, Annette Nichols, Nelda Henry and Joy Marie Dewbery.
Pallbearers were Victor Dewbery, Johnny Dewbery, Ricky McIver, Vince McIver, Todd Shown and Christian Davidson.
The family received visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
