Funeral services for Peggy Ann (Deaton) Owens, age 75, a longtime Atoka resident, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, in Atoka, with Shane Hamilton officiating.
Interment will be in Bentley Cemetery, at Bentley.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Owens passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at Coalgate.
She was born on Saturday, January 13, 1945, to Harlis and Opal (Givens) Deaton, at Atoka.
Owens attend a school in California, but moved home and graduated from Atoka High School.
She married Wayne Owens on Saturday, May 26, 1962, at Iron Stob, in Atoka. They celebrated 58 wonderful years of marriage this year.
Owens worked as a Certified Nurses Aide at Atoka, Coalgate, and Caddo nursing homes.
She was a longtime Pentecostal, and a member of Blackjack Baptist Church for several years and was also a member of the Atoka Trail Riders. Her world revolved around her grandchildren. Owens was always cheering them on and encouraging them in everything they did.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Owens of the home, in Blackjack; daughters, Teresa Owens of Blackjack; Karen Custar and husband, Justin, of Sharon; Carla Douglas and husband, Charlie, of Blackjack; grandchildren, Jaren Custar of Woodward; John Custar of Eufaula; Justin Custar and wife, Haley, of Weatherford; Haley Gipson and husband, Mark, of Konawa; Chase Douglas and Chance Douglas, both of Blackjack; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and another on the way; Peyton, Paxton and Carter; sisters, Linda Goff and husband, Rufus “Sonny”, of Atoka; Betty Griffin and Phyllis Collins, both of Florida; and a brother, Mark Deaton of California.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Harlis and Opal (Givens) Deaton; granddaughter, Shannon Douglas; in-laws, Woodrow and Callie Owens.
Pallbearers are John Custar, Justin Custar, Chase Douglas, Chance Douglas, Charles Douglas and Justin Custar, Sr.
Family night will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
