Funeral services for Donald Ross Turner, age 76 years, 7 months and 5 days, a longtime Caney resident, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, in Atoka, with Brother Harold Brewer officiating and Stetson Bradford assisting.
Interment was in the Stewart Gammon Cemetery, at Caney.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Turner passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020, at his home, in Caney.
He was born on Tuesday, May 9, 1944, to Charles Ross and Willa Alvira (Taylor) Turner, at Rochester, New York.
Turner attended Bingham Grade School and graduated from Alliance High School, of Nebraska.
He married Mary Jo Jennings on Wednesday, October 7, 1998, at Miami. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2013. They celebrated 15 years of marriage before her passing.
Turner was a ranch hand, worked in the coal mines, a truck driver for many years, drove a truck in Iraq, was a cook for 15 years at the Atoka Truck Stop and did yard care for the City of Caney.
He attended the Caney Pentecostal Church. Turner enjoyed hunting, fishing, and yard work.
Survivors include his family, the Boley, Bradford, and Jennings Families, of Caney; sister, Shirley Keane and husband, Gary, of Nebraska; Regina Schwartz and husband, Marv, of Nebraska; Mary Bannon and husband, Mike, of Nebraska; brother, Rob Lynn of Nebraska; daughter, Pam Ridgway of Tulsa; sons, Kevin Turner of Kansas and Robbie Turner of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles Ross and Willa Alvira (Taylor) Turner; wife, Mary Jo Turner; daughters, Rebecca Elaine Turner and Sheila Turner; brothers, Mark Edwin Lynn, Leon Jennings, Roy Jennings, Cortez Jennings, Donald Ridell and Charley Boley; nephew, Douglas Allan Keane; and niece, Bobbi Jo Schwartz.
Pallbearers were Charlotte Boley, C.J. Bradford, Stetson Jennings, Lonnie Jennings, Rick Jennings and Randy Roy.
Honorary pallbearers were Shirley Keane, Rob Lynn, Pam Ridgway, Kelli Faull, T.J. Morrison, Abby Amiott, Bailey Riley and Candice Jennings.
Family night was held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
