Memorial services for Bessie Earlene Hopson, age 88, a Aransas Pass, Texas resident, formerly a Atoka resident, most of her life, will be held sometime in April, 2021. Once definite arrangements have been set, we will announce the memorial service in the newspaper.
Arrangements are under the direction of Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
Hopson passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2020, in Portland, Texas.
She was born on April 16, 1932, to Charles and Lucille (Zachary) Ales, at Stringtown.
Hopson worked as a seamstress for Wranglers Corporation, in Coalgate.
She married Joe Hopson.
Hopson loved arrowhead hunting, rock collecting, fishing and hiking with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting her daughter, Jody Hopson, in Aransas Pass, Texas. Hopson would go to the beach every morning, if she could. She would always come home with a couple of buckets of sea shells and driftwood.
Survivors include her three sons, Brock Hopson of Antlers; Brook Hopson and wife, Janice, of McAlester; Guy Hopson and wife, Marie, of Tushka; one daughter, Jody Hopson of Aransas Pass, Texas; ten grandchildren, Joe Lee Hopson, Heather Hopson and Gentry Hopson, all of Antlers; Shawn Hopson and Michelle Hopson, both of McAlester; Angela Forte of Lewisville, Texas; Jonas Hopson of Kerrville, Texas; Colonia Hopson of Jackson, Wyoming; Jody Hopson of Austin, Texas; Jason Horath of Tulsa; several great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles and Lucille (Zachary) Ales; husband, Joe Hopson; daughter, Celesta Hopson; grandson, Terry Hopson; brothers, Ed Fisher, Bill Fisher, Howard Fisher and Charlie Ales; sister, Marie Ales-Armstrong; and her twin brother, Jessie Ales.
