Funeral services for Bettye Rose (Pierce) Johnson, age 81 years, 1 month and 22 days, an Oklahoma City resident, formerly a longtime Atoka resident, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, in Atoka, with Brother Willard Harrison officiating.
Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Johnson passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Oklahoma City.
She was born on Tuesday, November 28, 1939, to Henry Sylvester and Nancy Lola (Arterberry) Pierce, at Atoka County.
Johnson graduated from Dunbar High School, in 1956.
She married Bobby Lee Johnson on Saturday, September 22, 1956, at the Coal County Courthouse.
Johnson was a public health community worker at the Atoka County Health Department for 33 years, retiring in February, 2006.
She was a member of the Fourth Ward Church of Christ. Johnson enjoyed singing and bowling. She was a huge sports fan, enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers and Tiger Woods, she also loved to cook.
Survivors include her brother, Robert Pierce; daughter, Alesha Lilly of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Crystal Lilly, Na’Votanei Lilly, Britton Lilly, Tchlinda Lilly, Alyssa Jones, Jalyssa Jones, Kindra Wright and husband, Wesley, Jerry Harrison and wife, Stacia, Carlas Brown, LaTasha Johnson and Chard’a Johnson; great-grandchildren, DeShon Harrison and wife, Melissa, Deiontay Harrison, Teondre Harrison and wife, Lariah, ShaVon Harrison, Shaylynn Puffett, Justice McQuality, Kobe Harrison, Ashton Harrison, Elijah Harrison, Carmine Coble, Carmani Brown, Alasia Peppars, Joseph Peppars, Josiah Gates, Dania Cordero, Manuel Cordero, Zariah Brown, Traesean Jones, DaVarious Stovall, Jazzenay Haley, King Haley, Brayden Jones and Tchvonne Lilly; great-great-grandchildren, Diamond Easley-Harrison, Khilyn Drumgo, Le’dra Harrison and Emily Harrison; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry Sylvester and Nancy Lola Pierce; children, Bobby Johnson, Jr. and Brenda Janene Johnson; brothers, Henry Sylvester Pierce, Jr. and Freddy Lewis Pierce; sisters, infant sister Ruth Evelyn Pierce, Orean Bowen and Neree Butler; son-in-law, Willie Lilly; and the father of her children, Bobby Lee Johnson.
Pallbearers were Jerry Harrison, Carlas Brown, Gerald Bowen, Wayne Bowen, DeShon Harrison and Teondre Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Pierce, Larry Bowen, Darryl Pierce, Joe Harrison, Johnny Pierce, John Pierce, Lewis McGee and Jimmy Dale Vinson.
Flower bearers were nieces and the sisters of the Fourth Ward Church of Christ.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, January 22, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
