Memorial services for Kaleb Lane Cooksey, age 24 years, 10 months and 7 days, a lifelong Atoka resident, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, in Atoka, with Brother Raymond Humphrey officiating.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Cooksey passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Antlers.
He was born on Thursday, February 29, 1996, to Harold Dean III and Lisa Marie (Walton) Cooksey, at Durant.
Cooksey attended Harmony and Atoka Public Schools and graduated from Tushka High School, in 2014.
He married Shelbi (Hamer), on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Fittstown.
Cooksey worked as a transmission lineman for multiple power companies.
He was affiliated with the Church of the Rock in Lane. Cooksey loved fishing, hunting, being on the back of a horse, cutting up and joking with his friends,loved to aggravate, and especially loved playing with his babies.
Survivors include his wife, Shelbi Cooksey of the home, in Atoka; parents, Harold Dean, III and Lisa Marie (Walton) Cooksey of Atoka; children, Braelynn Grace Cooksey and Brixton Lane Cooksey, both of Atoka; brother, Weston Kyler Cooksey and wife, Kimberly, and niece or nephew coming soon of Atoka; grandparents, Johnny “Poppa” and Sharon “Granny” Walton of Atoka; J.R. Cooksey of Atoka; Karen Caves and husband, Leo, of Lane; great-grandfather, Harold Cooksey of Atoka; aunts, Kim Elliott and husband, Wayne, of Atoka; Misti “MeMe” Cooksey of Atoka; “Chel” Chelsey Renee Rhodes and husband, Chuck, of Yoakum, Texas; cousins, Rayle “Ray Ray” Elliott of Atoka and Falon Cooksey of Lane; mother and father-in-law, Leona Hensley of Centrahoma and Billy Hamer of Coalgate; along with many great aunts, great uncles, cousins, other relatives and many dear and loved friends. He is survived by many people who love and cherish him who will carry his spirit forever.
Preceding him in death were his great-grandmothers, Lucille Cooksey, Maxine Maxey, Lillian Walton and Shirley Lee; great-grandfathers, Louis Hunter and Johnnie Lee; uncle, Jerry “Peevine” Hunter; best friends, Jacob Murray and Dylan Sanders.
Honorary pallbearers were Weston Cooksey, Timmy Hamer, RD Pruitt, Adam Cooksey, Auston Graham, Fabrizzo Reasor, Laramie Donihoo, Rowdy Pettigrew, Dewayne McIninch, Uncle Wayne Elliott and Uncle Dustan Caves.
Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
