Funeral services for LaDonn Burleson, age 73, a McAlester resident, formerly of Savanna, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, in McAlester, with Doctor Matt Judkins officiating.
Interment was in Mountain Home Cemetery, at Daisy.
Services were under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home, in McAlester.
Burleson passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
She was born on May 13, 1947, to Jess Wilson and Opal (King) Wilson-Haughey, at McAlester.
Burleson grew up in Kinta and Quinton, where she graduated from high school.
She married Jerry Wayne Burleson on December 21, 1971, in Stigler, and they made their home in Savanna.
They moved to Boise City for a few years, but returned “home” to Savanna where they lived out their lives. Burleson worked at the Army Ammunition Plant for over 30 years, retiring as a production supervisor.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and taking care of her “furr babies”, the grandkids pets, and family trips to Colorado.
She was also a big sports fan and loved to watch sporting events on TV, especially OU football games. Her greatest joy, though, was her grandkids; rarely did she miss any of their games or other events.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelli Eales; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Basolo; grandchildren, Rachael Bernardi and Kyle, Stormi McKay, Alli Nichols and Colby, and Mackey Eales; great-grandchildren, Addison, Raylan and Oaklyn Bernardi; 2 sisters, her twin, LaVonn Cox and O. J., and Sharon Mize and Harvey; a brother-in-law, John Burleson; an aunt, Alice Hutson; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Jess Wilson and Opal (King) Wilson-Haughey; her husband, Jerry Wayne Burleson; a son, DeWayne McKay; a brother, Bill Wilson; and son-in-law, Rocky Eales.
Pallbearers were Mackey Eales, Kyle Bernardi, Colby Nichols, Tony Mize, Billy Wilson, Tommy Ford, John Burleson and Pat Basolo.
The family welcomed friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home, in McAlester.
