Funeral services for Marvin Fred Ishmael, age 79, a longtime Atoka resident, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Blackjack Baptist Church, in Atoka, with Brother Shane Hamilton officiating.
Interment was in New Zion Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Ishmael passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Atoka.
He was born on Monday, June 2, 1941, to Melvin Shade and Carmen Gertrude (Roddy) Ishmael, at Atoka.
Ishmael attended Atoka Public School.
He married Deborah Scott, on Friday, September 22, 1961, in Carson City, Nevada. They celebrated 59 wonderful years of marriage.
Ishmael was a concrete contractor for 40 years and then went on to work for the County of Atoka and Jamm.
He was a longtime member and deacon of Blackjack Baptist Church. Ishmael was also a member of Union 906 – Concrete Finishing Union. He loved hunting, fishing for crappie, doing yard work, gardening, going to the cabin, watching OU football games and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Ishmael of the home, in Atoka; sons, Marvin Ishmael and wife, Jennifer, of Tioga, Texas; and Doug Ishmael of Atoka; grandchildren, Nathan Ishmael and Lena Waggoner, of Tioga, Texas; Evan Ishmael and wife, Tina, of Tioga, Texas; Colt Ishmael and Stormy Donihoo, of Caney; Mason Ishmael and wife, Taylor, of Caney; great-grandchildren, Tripp Ishmael, Tucker Ishmael, Shade Ishmael, Daiton King and Aaron Ishmael; brother, Melvin Ishmael and wife, Irene, of Atoka; Gordon Ishmael and wife, Betty, of Tulsa; sister, Martha Lou Morris of Tulsa; sister-in-law, Ruth Ishmael of Atoka; daughter-in-law, Sue Ishmael of Caney; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Melvin Shade and Carmen Gertrude (Roddy) Ishmael; brothers, Hal Wayne Ishmael and John Ishmael; sisters, Jean Stamps, Helen Ann Lenard, Carolyn Chaffin and Lillian Frank.
Pallbearers were Colt Ishmael, Nathan Ishmael, Mason Ishmael, Evan Ishmael, Jeff Fox, Chris Ishmael, Greg Ishmael and James Stephens.
Honorary pallbearers were Blackjack Baptist Church members and Robert Greenwood.
The family received visitors from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
