Graveside services for Stevie Joe Smith, age 70, were held Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Darwin Cemetery, in Darwin.
Arrangements were under the direction of Moorhead Funeral Home, in Gun Barrel City, Texas.
Smith passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
He was born on April 24, 1950, to Norman and Imojean Smith, at Antlers.
Smith was a kind and gentle man but never sugar-coated anything. He was known for his lack of patience, not holding back his opinion, and had a knack for telling it like it is. Smith always told the truth, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. You always knew where you stood with him; he either liked you or he didn’t. As his children, we are still trying to figure out which one it was (we knew he loved us.) He loved our mother more than anything else in this world and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although he worked many years in the construction industry, he also made a name for himself in the fishing world. Fishing was his greatest passion, and man, did he make one network of friends along the way!
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Trudy Lynn Smith; children, Charity Smith; Ginger Droke and husband, Steve; and Alan Smith and wife, Candise; grandchildren, Jessica Jones and husband, Matt; Tyler Crum and wife, Karla; Alexis Droke; Ashley Smith; Ashton Smith; Kirstie Smith; Emily Hill; Brett Smith and Stetson Smith; great-grandchildren, Eden Jones; Leo Chariez; Elliott Crum and Noah Crum; brother, Scottie Smith and wife, Marianne; sister, Marsha Lankford and husband, Raymond; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his father Norman Smith; mother Imojean Smith; brothers Robert Smith and David Smith.
