Funeral services for Virginia Charlene (Young) Lloyd, age 74 years, 1 month and 12 days, a longtime Atoka resident, were held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, in Atoka, with Brother Jerry Lewis officiating.
Interment was in the New Bennington Cemetery, at Bennington.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Lloyd passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at Atoka.
She was born on Saturday, November 16, 1946, to Charlie and Bertie Mae (Dobson) Young, at Oakland.
Lloyd attended Oakland Public School and graduated from Madill High School.
She was reared in Oakland, and moved to Atoka in 1966, where she resided the rest of her life.
On Thursday, August 4, 1966, she married Jim Lloyd, at Madill. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before her passing.
Lloyd worked at Madill Dairy Queen during high school, worked for Setleff Hunt Hardware as a sales clerk, retired from Atoka Public Schools as Assistant Librarian, and was also a teacher’s assistant and tutor.
She was a Baptist and also attended the Old Bennington Presbyterian Church. She was very active in Choctaw Senior Programs, loved sewing, cooking, was an avid reader and collector, loved to go shopping and spend time with the grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Lloyd of the home, in Atoka; daughter, Sandra Rhae Heskett of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Blake Heskett of Atoka and Julia Rhae Heskett of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Wilma Day of Shay; Sue Cryer and husband, Alvin, of Oakland; Shirley Green of Mannsville; Bessie Parrish of Georgetown, Texas; brothers-in-law, Anthony Lloyd of Bokchito; Ervin Lloyd of Zion, Illinois; Roscoe Lloyd of Hephzibah, Georgia; sister-in-law, Mary Ida Chalakee of Norman; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Preceding her in death were her son, John Lloyd; parents, Charlie and Bertie Mae (Dobson) Young; in-laws, Charlie H. and Lee Etta Lloyd; paternal grandparents, Lee and Jennie Young; maternal grandparents, Bill and Bessie Dobson; brothers-in-law, Sam Day, Tommy Green, David Parrish and John E. Lloyd.
Pallbearers were Karson Green, Blake Heskett, Colton Green, Kaden Green, Kahner Green and Keith Green.
Honorary pallbearers were Colby Casas, Caleb Casas, Carter Casas, Britt Lewis and Gary Cooper.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
