Funeral services for Christa Lynn (Shields) Douglas, age 70 years, 9 months and 18 days, a Calera resident, formerly of Atoka, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, in Atoka, with Brother Willard Harrison officiating.
Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Douglas passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Durant.
She was born on Saturday, May 20, 1950, to Floyd and Callie (Riggs) Shields, at Atoka.
Douglas graduated from Atoka High School and went on to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
She married Robert Lee Douglas, on Sunday, May 23, 1971, at Atoka. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before his passing on April 27, 2019.
Douglas was a ward clerk for the hospital, a homemaker and housewife.
She attended The Fourth Ward Church of Christ. Douglas enjoyed attending church, watching basketball, Oklahoma University football, volleyball and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Sean Douglas of Atoka; Shanna Douglas of Calera; grandchildren, Darius Douglas and Josh Douglas, both of Durant; Jade Douglas and Darika Douglas, both of Calera; Mikayla Douglas of Durant; siblings, Richard Shields and wife, Charlotte, of Denver, Colorado; Terry Shields of Atoka; Crandall Shields and wife, Gloria, of North Richland Hills, Texas; Derry Shields and wife, Sylvia, of Keller, Texas; Cheryl Brooks of Hurst, Texas; Venoy Shields of Atoka; Veryl Shields and wife, Patty, of Norman; Sonya Matthews and husband, Lorenza, of Fort Worth, Texas; Twilla McGee of Atoka; brothers-in-law, Donald Douglas and wife, Gail, of Denison, Texas and Ronald Douglas of Houston, Texas; nieces and nephews, Vickie Collins, LeAnna Shields, Tatiana Shields, Adam Shields, Derry Shields, Jr., Chaz Shields, Jeremy Shields, Monique McClure, Rose Jackson, Marcus Shields and wife, Michele, Morgan Shields, Karen Shields, Kasey Shields, Taylor Shields, Kalan McGee, Courtney Harrison, Eric Shields and Douglas Brewer; along with cousins and other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Floyd and Callie Shields; husband, Robert Lee Douglas; granddaughter, Dajae Thurman; siblings, Lynetta Harrison, Joyce Huddleston, Bruce Shields and Stanley Shields; in-laws, Ida and Labron McJunkins; sister-in-law, Kathy Douglas; cousin, Sandra White; nephews, Connor McGee, Mario Shields and a niece, Shantell Shields.
Pallbearers are Kevin Lamb, Chip Stevenson, Eric Avriett, Gerald Bowens, Michael Sutter and D’avion Shields.
Honorary pallbearer is Clifford Brown.
Flower girls are Tonya Miller, Amanda Lamb, Sabrina Kemp, Brandi Wingfield, Lottie Neal and Diane McGee.
Honorary flower girls are Shalonda Jones and Leona Ikpa.
Family night will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, March 19, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
