Funeral services for Larry Dale Pruitt, age 70 years, 1 month and 7 days, a longtime Atoka resident, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, in Atoka, with the Reverend Daniel Ramey officiating.
Interment was in Green Meadows Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Pruitt passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Atoka.
He was born on Wednesday, January 17, 1951, to Clyde H. and Katie (Smith) Pruitt, at Ada.
Pruitt graduated from Atoka High School and then went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree from East Central University with a major in Math and a minor in Physics and Computer Science.
He married Mary Jane (Fisher), on Saturday, December 29, 1973, at St. Paul Methodist Church, in Sulphur.
Pruitt owned and ran Pruitt Oil Company for many years with his father and then with his sons.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Atoka. Pruitt enjoyed gardening, ceramics, yard work and seeing his customers at the store.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Pruitt of the home, in Atoka; sons, Robert Pruitt and wife, Cheryl, of Atoka and Jonathan Pruitt of Atoka; grandchildren, Bryson Pruitt-McGregor and fiancé, Chrisenda Olivieri, of Atoka; Robert McCoy and Brody McCoy, both of Atoka; sister, Virginia Stenhouse and husband, David, of Blanchard; nephews, Mark Moreland and wife, Rose, of Wichita, Kansas; Michael Moreland and wife, Brandy, of Elgin; along with other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Clyde and Katie (Smith) Pruitt; father and mother-in-law, Myron Augusta Fisher and Bessie Fisher.
Pallbearers were Charles McCall, Clay McCall, Terry Hillis, Phillip Mead, Zeb Bradford and Stetson Bradford.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles McCall, Sr., Greg Cochran, Joe Daniel, Bill Evans, Russell Eldridge and Pat Loftis.
Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, February 26, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
