Funeral services for Synthia Mae (Thompson) Wills-Bowen, age 89, an Atoka resident, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at Stringtown Baptist Church, in Stringtown, with Brother Lloyd Thompson officiating.
Interment was in Green Meadows Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Wills-Bowen passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at Atoka.
She was born on Monday, April 6, 1931, to Joe and Jewel (Barnhill) Thompson, in Atoka County.
Wills-Bowen graduated from Lime Stone Gap High School.
She married and was preceded in death by both, Wiley Wills and Ernest Bowen.
Wills-Bowen was a headstart teacher, in Kiowa, for many years.
Wills-Bowen was a member of Stringtown Baptist Church. She loved sewing, doing word puzzles, spending time with family and watching the grandchildren play basketball.
Survivors include her daughter, Gayle Marley and husband, Jim, of Stringtown; son, Roger Wills of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Joe Wills and wife, Brandy, of Kiowa; Stacy Wills-Decker of Oklahoma City; Keith Quaid and wife, Janet, of Kiowa; Kevin Quaid and wife, Kristi, of Round Rock, Texas; Kyle Quaid of McAlester; Maria Rose of Tulsa; Jamy Marley of Stringtown; and Amy Stevens of Grand Prairie, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jadyn Mitchell and husband, Sam; Jacy Wills; Jaxon Wills; Jaylee Wills; Sydney Wills; William Decker; Rylynn Wills; Lauren Unwin and husband, Ray; Max Quaid; Madilyn Quaid; Kyleigh Quaid; Walker Wilson; Zain Wilson; Jacob Marley; Jon Marley and Josh Marley; great-great-grandchildren, Raelynn Unwin and Maren Mitchell; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Joe and Jewel (Barnhill) Thompson; husbands, Wiley Wills and Ernest Bowen; siblings, Lesley Thompson, Eugene Thompson and Roy Thompson.
Pallbearers were Keith Quaid, Kyle Quaid, Joe Wills, Tom Lucas, Sam Lucas and Eddie Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers were JC Gadberry, Ruth Gadberry and Chris Edgar.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
