Funeral services for Vera Geraldine Wood, age 101, 3 months and 9 days, a Granbury, Texas resident, was reared in Connerville, lived in Wapanucka several years, moved to Fort Worth, Texas and then Wichita Falls, Texas in 1960, then came back to Wapanucka in 1981. She moved to Granbury, in 2016, to be close to family, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, in Atoka, with her family speaking.
Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, at Wapanucka.
Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Wood passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Granbury, Texas.
She was born on Tuesday, November 18, 1919, to Isaac and Murtle (Rose) Tisdell, at Connerville.
Wood attended school in Connerville.
She married A. J. Wood, Jr., on Wednesday, March 10, 1937, at Atoka County. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before his passing in 1984.
Wood was a homemaker and housewife.
She was a longtime member of Wapanucka First Baptist Church, where she was very involved in the church. Wood enjoyed cooking, delivering meals on wheels and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Wood and wife, Earline, of Granbury, Texas; daughter, Sandra Nichols of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Rene Haines and husband, Ray, of Burleson, Texas; Kevin Ogletree of Waxahachie, Texas; Scott Wood and wife, Sherry, of Dallas, Texas; Chad Wood of San Diego, California; Ace Burkhart of Oklahoma City; Storm McDonald and wife, Melia, of Holiday, Texas; Skye McDonald of Fort Worth, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; first great-great-great-granddaughter due in April; along with other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Isaac and Murtle Tisdell; husband, A. J. Wood, Jr.; daughter, Renda Wood Horne; grandsons, Jud Wood and Jeffery Ogletree; and her twin sister, Christine Wolfe.
Pallbearers are Billy Brennan, Ace Burkhart, Storm McDonald, Coleman Ogletree, Mason Wood and Keston Wood.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, March 5, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wapanucka First Baptist Church or Rosehill Cemetery, in Wapanucka.
