Funeral services for Bobby Joe Courtney, age 76 years, 9 months and 6 days, a lifelong Atoka resident, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, in Atoka, with Brother Bill Roberson officiating.
Interment was in New Zion Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Courtney passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, in Atoka.
He was born on Sunday, August 13, 1944, to Eugene Seidle and Margaret (Silvers) Courtney, at Atoka.
Courtney graduated from Atoka High School, in 1962.
He proudly served his country in the National Guard.
Courtney was a self employed carpenter.
He loved cars, being an uber driver for Boomer’s Bar and hanging out at Harry’s Barber Shop.
Survivors include his children, Melissa Courtney of Atoka; Billy Joe Courtney and wife, Francie, of Atoka; Jamie Rowell of Norman; adopted daughter, Wendy Cops of Tushka; grandchildren, Alex Courtney of Atoka; Abby Courtney of Atoka; Colten Courtney and wife, Stormi, of Atoka; Shancie Courtney of Atoka; and Haley Cops of Lane; great-grandchildren, Adrian Courtney, Trigger Courtney, Konnar Courtney and Haskell Joe Courtney; sister, Margadell Taylor of Atoka; sister-in-law, Joy Courtney of Wichita, Kansas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Eugene Seidle and Margaret (Silvers) Courtney; siblings, Kenneth Courtney; Windell Courtney and wife, Barbara; Russell Courtney and wife, Nina; brother-in-law, JB Taylor.
Pallbearers were Elvin Ford, Mike Miller, Kent Hutson, Dennis Courtney, Guy Gene Courtney and Billy Courtney.
Honorary pallbearers were Harry Farris, Paul Kisinger, Colten Courtney and Alex Courtney.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, May 21, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
