Funeral services for Connie LaNell (Woodard) Edwards, age 72, an Atoka resident, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Victory Life Church, in Atoka, with the Reverend Ernest Lambert officiating.
Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery, at Atoka.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Edwards passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, in Fort Worth, Texas.
She was born on Monday, July 5, 1948, to Claud and Erma Jean (Bell) Woodard, in Atoka.
Edwards graduated from Atoka High School and attended Texas Women University.
She was a successful entrepreneur, professional educator and after retirement, a caregiver.
Edwards was a life-long and faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She loved spending time with family and friends, traveling and helping people in need. Edwards was a member of the City Council and served in the Atoka Housing Authority.
Survivors include her sons, Kyle Edwards and wife, Keshia, of Fort Worth, Texas; Marcus Muhammad and wife, Chiquita, of Lewisville, Texas; grandchildren, Kyle K. Edwards and Kyla Edwards, both of Fort Worth, Texas; Jalon Muhammad, Amir Muhammad and Nadia Muhammad, all of Lewisville, Texas; sister, Bettye Berry of Fort Worth, Texas; nieces, Karla Andrews of Crowley, Texas and Jeanna Woodard of Stillwater; nephews, Erik Berry of Houston, Texas; Kevin Woodard of Stillwater and Jeff Woodard of Durant; along with other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Claud and Erma Jean (Bell) Woodard; brother, Wendell Woodard; and niece, Lyndell Woodard.
Pallbearers were Jesse Vester, Micah Seth Andrews, Jalon Muhammad, Dustin Wade Phillips, Anthony Edwards, Alvin Brown and Calvin Bennett.
Honorary pallbearers were Dwayne Washington, Wesley Crawford, Pete Crawford, Anthony Edwards and Kyle K. Edwards.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, March 26, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
A luncheon was held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the Atoka Community Center located on Liberty Road, in Atoka.
