Graveside services for Thyra Alice (Cox) Gudgel, age 72 years, 11 months and 2 days, a longtime Atoka resident, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Boggy Depot Cemetery, in Boggy Depot, with Kevin White officiating.
Interment was in Boggy Depot Cemetery, at Boggy Depot.
Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka.
Gudgel passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at her home, in Atoka.
She was born on Tuesday, May 18, 1948, to Daniel S. and Lennie Belle (Bowen) Cox, at Dumas, Texas.
Gudgel graduated from Tushka High School, in 1966.
She married Johnnie Lee Gudgel on Saturday, May 27, 1972, at Atoka. They celebrated 27 years of marriage before his passing on August 27, 1999.
Gudgel was a seamstress for the Levi Company.
She enjoyed thrift store shopping and loved taking care of her dog, Winston.
Survivors include her brothers, Charles Richard Bolt and wife, Wanda, of Cleburne, Texas; Billy Joe Cox of Arnold, Missouri; niece, Teresa Bolt of Arlington, Texas; her dog, Winston, of the home; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Preceding her in death were her father, Daniel S. Cox; mother, Lennie Belle (Bowen) Bolt-Cox; husband, Johnnie Lee Gudgel; brothers, Enith Bolt, Jr. and Keith Wayne Cox.
Pallbearers were Patrick Gilbreath, Jeremiah Bramlett, Shawn Walzier and John Bramlett.
Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, April 23, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service, in Atoka. If you want to visit the family, they request you go to the house.
