Funeral services for Virgil L. Martin, age 77 years, 2 months and 28 days, a Kiowa resident, formerly of Atoka, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021, at the Atoka Funeral Home Chapel, in Atoka, with the Reverend Gary Powell officiating and the Reverend Kay Seaton assisting.
Interment was in Farris Cemetery, at Farris.
Services were under the direction of Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
Martin passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021, in Eufaula.
He was born on January 7, 1944, to Robert Lee and Ida Pearline (Neal) Martin, at Tulsa.
Martin was an ordained minister and was employed by the Assembly of God Churches.
He married Jo Lee Bryant, on Saturday, September 3, 1967, at Stringtown.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Lee Martin of the home, in Kiowa; son, Frank Martin and wife, Rae, of Carnegie; daughters, Lauren Lytle and husband, Lynn, of Atoka; Robin Lewis and husband, Jeffrey, of Wilburton; Sheri Martin of the home, in Kiowa; 13 grandchildren, Kari Plancarte and husband, Richard, of Atoka; Shanda LaRock and husband, Adam, of Durant; Lo Linda Garton and husband, Zachary, of Kiowa; David Herron and wife, Samantha, of Atoka; George Teague of the home, in Kiowa; Jeremy Teague and wife, Shayla, of Wilburton; Robert Martin of Carnegie; Taylor Martin and wife, Samantha, of Carnegie; Ethan Martin of Carnegie; Bryant Teague of the home, in Kiowa; McKynnah Martin of Carnegie; Jon Lytle of Tushka; Jeremy Lytle and wife, Beth, of Durant; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Bobby) Martin of Blackwell; sister, Peggy Corley and husband, Dale, of Eufaula; mother-in-law, Virginia Spears of Atoka; also several nieces, nephews and host of dear friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert Lee and Ida Pearline Martin; grandchildren, George Allen Teague, Jr., Levi Allen Teague, Riley James Martin; great-grandson, Wyatt Martin; sisters, Elizabeth Wright and Virginia Grider; father-in-law, Frank R. (Kink) Bryant.
Pallbearers were David Herron, George Teague, Jeremy Teague, Robert Martin, Taylor Martin and Ethan Martin.
Honorary pallbearers were Bryant Teague, Adam LaRock, Richard Plancarte, Zachary Garton, Jon Lytle and Jeremy Lytle.
Family night was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the Atoka Funeral Home, in Atoka.
